Raw Food: What Is It?
Technically speaking, raw food is food that has not been heated above 48 degrees centigrade (117 degrees Fahrenheit). When it comes to eating raw, by default this will mean foods that are safe to eat raw, which are the obvious foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.
There are actually a whole array of raw foods both within these particular food groups and also many more outside of them that could very well be new to you such as sprouted grains and indoor greens.
Raw food is special specifically because it is raw. By the very fact that it hasn’t been heat-treated, it is replete with everything that enabled it to sprout and grow in the first place – life force, enzymes, water, oxygen, hormones, vitamins and minerals and so much more besides. All of these are lost in part or completely when you cook a food, thus eating foods raw means that you get the benefit of everything a food can bring, rather than just some of it.
One of the most common myths about eating raw is there is such a thing as “the raw food diet”. There actually isn’t. There really are infinite ways to eat raw just as there are infinite ways to eat cooked, and using different pieces of kitchen equipment such as juicers, blenders, sprouters, food processors, ice-cream makers and the like means that there really is no limit to what you can create. The Tribest Sedona Dehydrator enables us to create foods that look and even taste cooked whilst retaining those all-important nutrients. Some of the world’s most accomplished chefs are turning their hand to raw food cuisine in order to take their culinary skills to a whole new level.
You can start to feel the benefit of eating more raw foods in less than a day, depending on how seriously you take it. These changes can be as simple as niggling aches and pains disappearing, through to seeing a difference in body tone, clearer eyes, sleeping better, a less puffy face on waking, clearer thinking, increased emotional poise and simply feeling lighter and happier! Losing 2-3 lbs. per day is average.
The great news is, all of these benefits are yours for the taking. And it all starts with deciding that you’re ready to feel better and making some simple but powerful changes that are delicious, exciting and that work – fast!
