How To Maximise Your Gut Health

If you’ve red my content for any length of time you’ll know that I’m an avid proponent of gut health and doing everything possible in order to maximise it. Without good gut health, ensuring it is functioning properly you’re so limited in your ability to absorb nutrients, recover, grow and even perform correctly.

Here are 3 things I’d recommend you do in order to maximise gut health, there’s no excuses not to be doing this.

Morning set-up

Upon waking, along with getting plenty of water in to help hydrate you I’d recommend using Udo’s Choice Beyond Greens along with 10-15g of L-glutamine. This will help line your gut with goodness which goes a long way to setting your gut up for the day. This will also contribute towards your daily fibre intake which many people fail to hit. I’d say within 2-4 days you’ll instantly notice the difference this makes to the way your gut feels.

Pre & post meal

My online clients will take Udo’s Choice Digestive Enzymes before some of their meals during the day and the pro-biotic product after some of their meals during the day. This is there to help the body breakdown the foods more easily, baring in mind those who are eating for body composition changes will often be eating higher volumes of food. Secondly, it’s in place to help keep a healthy balance of good bacterias within the gut to further aid digestion.

Nutrient density

Yes calories and macronutrients are important in terms of numbers, but the quality is equally as important and this is often overlooked! One of the key factors to sustaining healthy gut function is making sure your calories come from nutrient dense, wholesome foods. This will mean that you’re getting a lot of natural digestive enzymes from your diet along with phytonutrients and bacterias. Things which processed foods won’t give you. For instance, pineapple is rich in bromelain which is a naturally occurring digestive enzyme.

Along with the above points, drinking enough water, rotating your protein sources and avoiding allergens which you don’t agree with are all going to lead to better gut health.
