What to Look Out for When Buying CBD

If like many other people you are interested in the potential benefits of CBD, you’ll likely be looking for a product that is of the highest quality that is both safe and effective. In this guide, we’ll talk you through what CBD is and how our CBD products are made from the highest quality sources.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, more commonly referred to as CBD, is a naturally occurring product from the cannabis sativa plant. Properties of CBD can interact with special receptor cells in the brain, skin, digestive tract and the reproductive system, which can result in a variety of different effects. Increasingly, CBD is becoming widely used around the world and many people are choosing to use CBD as a food supplement to help with pain relief, stress, anxiety and sleep.

Types of CDB?

There are three main types of CBD that are available on the market which include:

  • Isolate – This type of CBD only contains pure cannabidiol and isn’t combined with any other types of cannabinoids. Isolates are usually sold as a pure powder, crystals or in oil form.
  • Full Spectrum – Full Spectrum CBD contains all other cannabinoids that are found in the cannabis sativa plant, including THC. Additionally, full spectrum CBD contains terpenes and fatty acids that are naturally occurring products.
  • Broad Spectrum – Broad Spectrum CBD is a middle ground between isolate and full spectrum. Broad spectrum CBD contains all other cannabinoids and other chemical compounds.

Has the CBD Product Undergone Testing by a Third-Party Lab?

It is important that CBD has been tested by a third party to ensure that there are no irregularities, and that the product meets the required standards. PharmaHemp CBD only uses organically grown and processed plants, and the quality of the CBD is confirmed by independent third-party laboratories.

What Level of THC does the Product Contain?

A significant point to consider when looking for CBD is the THC content of the product. THC is the ingredient in cannabis that leaves you feeling intoxicated, however, the amount of THC in many CBD products is so small that it is unlikely to have any intoxicating effects. With PharmaHemp’s CBD, the traces of THC are below 0.2%, so the product will not have any intoxicating effect on you.

How was the CBD Extracted?

There are a variety of methods used to extract CBD, with some methods being safer and more reliable than others. PharmaHemp uses CO2 extraction, which is a process that uses pressurised carbon dioxide to extract phytochemicals such as CBD. CO2 extraction is the most expensive method and is considered to be the safest and most effective way of extracting CBD.

Where was the hemp sourced from and how was it cultivated?

The likelihood is that you want your CBD to originate from a pure organic source that has been cultivated without the use of any potentially harmful techniques. The hemp seeds selected during the PharmaHemp cultivation process are carefully chosen from a list of certified grown hemp in the Pannonian planes of Slovenia and Croatia.

What cultivation practices were used?

Another consideration is how the hemp has been cultivated and what practices have been used. PharmaHemp only uses hemp seeds that have been cultivated, harvested and handled in compliance with the Good Agricultural and Collection Practice (GACP) guidelines, which ensures the seeds have been cultivated using Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.

Does the company have a good reputation? What are others saying about the product and the brand?

Reputation is always important for brands, and that’s the case even more so with CBD-based brands. It’s a good idea to research a CBD company before you choose to buy from them and see what reviews of the products are from previous buyers. Trustworthy CBD brands will have certificates of analysis, which prove that their products have been approved. They will also likely have GMP certification which ensures the practices used during the cultivation process are industry approved.

When deciding which CBD supplier to go with, the quality of the product as the reputation and authenticity of the brand are amongst the most important factors to consider. PharmaHemp has a reputation across Europe for being a pioneer within the industry and for providing high quality products that meet the high standards of the GACP and GMP. There is a collection of ranges under the PharmaHemp umbrella, including Dr. Kent, CBD Elixir and MIKKA. Between these brands, there are several different products infused with high quality CBD.
