Formulated with a viable count of specially chosen bacterial strains especially beneficial for an infants healthy intestinal flora. The bifidobacteria, including B. infantis, should represent the largest population of beneficial bacteria in babies, whose immune defences are not yet fully working. The specific strains used in Udos Infants Blend have been specially chosen for their value to infant health. This powder format has been designed to be added to formula or liquid after it has been heated.
Probiotics are the beneficial, friendly bacteria that occur throughout the digestive tract. Poor eating habits, chlorinated drinking water, stress and disease and the use of antibiotics in food production as well as in medical treatments can wreak havoc in the gastrointestinal tract by destroying good bacteria and allowing undesirable bacteria to multiply.
When the ratio of good bacteria to bad is lowered, problems begin to arise such as excessive gas, bloating, intestinal toxicity, constipation and poor absorption of nutrients. Whilst it is true that non-beneficial bacteria are naturally occurring in the intestinal tract problems begin when their growth goes unchecked. Probiotics play an especially important role in keeping in check the pathogenic bacteria that cause disease.
A healthy lower intestine should contain at least 85% friendly bacteria to prevent the over colonisation of disease causing micro organisms like E.coli and Salmonella.
Infants immune defences are not yet fully working . Babies pick up friendly bacteria from their mothers during their passage through a clean and healthy birth canal. Studies show that B. infantis was found in approximately 60% of full-term newborns who were born vaginally and only 9% of babies born by Caesarean Section. Formula fed babies also have significant differences from breastfed babies in the composition of their gut microflora because the heat used to pasteurise formula kills all bacteria.
To maintain healthy intestinal and oral flora - Dissolve 1/2 teaspoon once a day in formula or other liquid. As an intensive treatment - Dissolve 1/2 teaspoon three times a day in formula or other liquid when suffering from intestinal disorders.
Each gram of powder is guaranteed to contain not less than 2 billion total viable cells (at time of manufacture) of:
In a base of maltodextrin and ascorbic acid
Refrigeration ensures maximum potency & stability. Udo's Choice Infant's Blend probiotics can be left unrefrigerated for short periods of time and may be frozen.

My baby was born by emergency c-section and was breast fed for 5 months. She had a problem with trapped wind and would cry for hours at a time where she would bring her legs up and her tummy would go hard like a drum. The doctor said she had colic and that she would grow out of it by 3 months but she didn't. At 5 months she was worse! I tried Infacol, Colief and Dentinox but she still got trapped wind. I took her to a Cranial Osteopath for treatment and the Osteopath suggested that I give my baby Infant Probiotics. I was sceptical at first and thought it was a lot of money for a little bottle (but then so is Colief), but I was willing to try anything. I used a high dose of 1/2 a teaspoon of probiotic powder a day mixed with milk given on a spoon and within two weeks there was a noticeable difference. The trapped wind problem has slowly gone and my baby is much happier after her feed plus I don't need to use Infacol anymore. This is a marvellous product and I wish my doctor had told me about it because it could have saved months of her crying in pain. If your baby has trapped wind then please give this product a try. For me, it was definitely worth it and money well spent!
